South Korean tenor Riccardo Yongsuek Shim studied at Kyungpook National University, graduating valedictorian in his class with a Bachelors degree in music. He went on to receive a Masters of Divinity degree from Hansei University, and completed further vocal studies at the National University of Vienna in Austria (Music hoch Schule Opernstudium) at the highest level of their graduate opera program.
Mr. Shim began his professional operatic career as Tebaldo in I Capuleti e I Montecchi , as Hoffmann and Sparanzani in Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann, as Manrico in Il Trovatore at the National Summer Festival in Hungary, Tosca as Cavaradossi and Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte as Tamino, La Bohème as Rodolfo, La Traviata as Alfredo and Bizet’s Carmen as Don Jose, Austria, Germany, Italy, and USA that lasted a tour of the entire season.
Mr. Shim also has management experience with ZBF Agency in Munich, Germany and Concorde Opera Management in Vienna, Austria. He recently received the award for Excellence in Fine Arts from the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution in Washington, D.C.
